Usually they go after the same toys, but there are a few differences. Socks loves chasing jingle balls and anything filled with catnip, while Horus prefers strings and feathers. They both chase after the same toy mice, and Socks is famous for his signature “crocodile roll” where he’ll grab my arm in both front paws and flip over to get a better vantage point. Horus plays less rough, but is still hilarious.

But, of course, the best part is watching them play with each other. Where one goes, the other isn’t far behind. As you can see from my previous post, Brotherly Love,  they even stalk birds together. Thankfully, they paused for a split second and I was able to get this clear shot of Horus running around with a string and Socks acting as his back up:

Last night my husband and I went to a mens basketball game at the U of Akron. It was Family Night at the JAR (James A Rhodes Arena), so we arrived an hour before the game to make posters and help other people put on their temporary Zips tattoos. (There was no way that I was going to wear one myself, although I did wear Zips colors and my U of Akron hoodie.)

Josh had to attend the Family Night as one of the requirements for his Student Success Seminar. We had to register up front, but were given back our deposits when we arrived, so the game and everything were free. As part of the program we were even given free pizza, pop and cinnamon bread at halftime! Woo hoo! Of course, by that point I’d already stuffed myself with (not free) nachos, so I could only down a piece and a half of the pizza and had to fend off Josh as he tried to steal my cinnamon bread.

The Zips beat Northern Illinois University 75-51 and Josh and I had a blast. We’re both a little hoarse today from yelling and my legs hurt from walking across campus in freezing cold weather and then hiking up and down the bleachers several times, but it was a ton of fun. In fact, we’re planning on taking in another game on Wednesday, as long as Josh isn’t overwhelmed with homework.

Sporting events are a lot more fun at a bigger school. Don’t get me wrong — I loved attending Ashland U, but the football and basketball games that I went to had much to be desired. I think it was because it was a small school in a small town, not a large school in a full size city like Akron.

I wonder what other sporting events I can talk Josh into attending?

Once I’d watched one episode, I was hooked. The entire show reminds me of an restaurant review that I wrote several years ago on the Overhyped hipster fare at Melt Bar and Grilled. Those hipsters? Apparently they’re occupying Portland now. Wih hilarious results.

From the, ”I can pickle that!” to the Blunderbuss Festival, I just can’t stop watching. In fact, I kind of wish that each episode were longer than a half hour. So far, my favorite sketches include the Allergy Pride Parade, the one where Fred and Carrie make a big fuss about someone tying their dog to a post outside a cafe (with a funny twist of an ending that I won’t give away) and the Portland baseball team tryouts. There are so many more that I haven’t mentioned, so you’ll just have to check it out for yourself.

Last Sunday was Valentine’s Crafts Sunday and the U of Akron. My husband had to attend at least one craft Sunday in order to fulfill one of the requirements of his Student Success Seminar. Unfortunately for him, he took me along. (I had so much fun that I’m dragging him to the March and April Crafts Sunday’s, too.)

We made a day of it and spent some time in the campus game room playing pool and bowling, before making these cool crafts (he made me the frog box on the left, while I painted the weird green-owlish-dinosaur-stamp covered picture frame on the right):

Looking over the finance pages of the New York Times website, the state of business over all seems shaky, except for the world of chemical mergers and acquisitions. Chemical companies seem to be stable these days, probably because everything that gets manufactured these days has one sort of chemical compound or other. Look at the ingredients panel on a Twinkies package or on the back of a paint can! They’re unescapable, and, therefore, chemical manufacturing is an important business.

But, I digress, I was talking about business, wasn’t I? Oh yes, running your own business can be difficult, but is completely worth it. I get to do silly things that post cat pictures and write blog posts. I don’t think I have it in me to run a larger business, but I manage well with what I have. How can I ask for anything more?

This time the move went smoother, since Josh and I took one look at the 30+ heavy boxes of books (this total does not include any boxes from the rest of our apartment) and decided to hire movers for the first time ever. We’d heard good things about 2 Men and a Truck, so we gave them a call. For $99 an hour, they came and moved all 60 of our boxes and numerous rooms full of bulky furniture. And it only took 4 and 1/4 hours! If we’d enlisted our friends, it would’ve taken them all day just to load up the U-haul, and who-knows-how-long to unload.

With Josh in school, his time is precious and he can’t risk hurting his back yet again, so the movers were a good idea. Now, is anyone looking for cheap mailboxes?
